Tag! You're it…

Ever yearned for a dedicated hub for finding content from your followed tags? Well, yearn no more. We are rolling out this feature on mobile platforms starting today.

What is it?

  • Until now, there was no easy way to find content specific to tags you follow. You can now find "Your tags" alongside "Following" and "For you" on the dash. Don't worry, your regular "Following" tab experience won't change: you'll still see posts from followed tags on your dashboard.
  • In "Your tags," you will find a wealth of new content exclusive to your followed topics. This is also the new home of "Tags you follow," which has moved here from Explore.
  • You can view, manage, add, and unfollow your tags—and create a technicolor patchwork of your interests. Art? Politics? Shitposts? All here.
  • If you're using "Hide potentially mature content" on iOS, you won't see posts under tags deemed sensitive. If "Your tags" is almost empty, try following more tags or disable the "Hide potentially mature content" setting from the web.

Why?

While other features do something similar, they are a little out of the way for most users. The "Following" tab has posts from blogs you follow, content from your tags, and things we think you'll like—leaving a risk you might miss potential new content and creators. So "Your tags" is only posts from the tags you follow. Please note this feature is launching as a test on Android and iOS and will expand to web in the future. So why not give it a spin—and tell us what you think!

Any questions? If so, please drop us a line on @wip or Support , or keep an eye out for more on @changes.

tumblr tuesday: carina's cosmic cliffs

Cosmic cliffs, our beloveds. ICYMI, @nasa recently shared some neat new images from the James Webb telescope. So, of course, you all got to work. Whether it's plonking your faves on a star-birthing nebula or celebrating the sparkle in its uncolonized state, there's art for that.

No one panic. The crabs are back. They're helping us launch TumblrMart on web today, and will be bringing TumblrMart to Android and iOS very soon. You're welcome.

What's TumblrMart?

TumblrMart is your new storefront for gifting joy to your friends on Tumblr. We're launching the mart with the ability to gift Ad-Free Browsing and this April Fools' infamous "Summon Crab!" button, with more features to be added in the future.

You can now give someone the gift of:

  • 24 hours' worth of crustacean chaos ($2.99),
  • a month of Ad-Free Browsing ($4.99), or
  • a year of Ad-Free Browsing ($39.99).

You can include a little note with your present or even give anonymously—like the benevolent bestower you know you are.

How?

  1. Find the blog you wish to gift, OR select it from the storefront during checkout.
  2. You will see a small gift icon on their blog header. Click it.
  3. A small menu will appear with potential prezzies. Choose one.
  4. Enter your payment details, and hit "Pay now."
  5. The lucky user receives their present.
  6. Celebrate. You just made someone's dash more fun! Clack.

What else do you need to know?

  • TumblrMart is not the same thing as our Tumblr Shop
  • You currently cannot buy items for yourself on TumblrMart. This is for gifting to other users only.
  • Gifted Ad-Free Browsing will begin automatically for the recipient, but users must activate their crabs by clicking or tapping the "Summon Crab!" button that will become visible to them at the top of their dashboard.
  • TumblrMart is available globally from today on web. A mobile release will launch soon, which means mobile users will, at long last, be able to join in with the crab infestation . Don't say we didn't warn you.

Anxious about online payment security? Check out this handy graph for total peace of mind. If you have questions, drop us a line on @wip or Support, or keep an eye out for more on @changes.

Sharing is gifting Ad-Free Browsing—on mobile!

The wait is over. From today, you can gift Ad-Free Browsing to other users on mobile. If you love giving presents and know someone who doesn't love ads on Tumblr and they have an Android or iPhone, this will be great news. You can gift an ad-free month to a special someone at $4.99 or a whole ad-free year at $39.99 (that's 4 months for $0!). You can include a little note with your present, or even send it anonymously. So why not show them you love them—and tell them, if you like—with the gift of Ad-Free Browsing on Tumblr?

How?

It could not be easier. Simply tap on the gift icon on the recipient's blog header, and you're away! The recipient's dash will be ad-free across all platforms once it is received.

Introducing: Reblog Controls

This is not a drill, repeat, this is not a drill—we are rolling out reblog controls across web and iOS, starting today.

How does it work?

When drafting a post, select the settings cog in the top right corner of your post editor. From here, you can choose one of two options.

  • "Anyone (on Tumblr)" means just that.
  • "No one" means that your post cannot be reblogged by anyone, ever.
A screenshot of the Tumblr post interface after clicking on the settings cog in the upper right corner. Under the list of settings, a "Who can reblog?" option is listed as "New". The dropdown icon has been selected, listing two options: "Anyone (on Tumblr)" and "No one". ALT

Why?

Your wish is our command. Many of you have told us this feature would give you a welcome sense of safety. If you block someone after the post was made, don't worry—they still can't reblog it. This change gives you control over your own posts, and so will improve your posting experience. Ultimately, better posting means a better Tumblr. And finally, don't worry, Android users. The feature will follow on your platform soon.

That's all, folks. Happy reblogging!

Any questions? Drop us a line on @wip or Support , and keep an eye out for the mobile rollout on @changes.

Sharing is gifting Ad-Free Browsing.

Yup, you heard correctly. From today, you can gift Ad-Free Browsing to other users when you check out on web. So, if you love giving presents and know someone who doesn't love ads on Tumblr, this will be great news for you. You can gift an ad-free month to a special someone at $4.99 or a whole ad-free year at $39.99—that's 4 months for $0. You can include a little note with your present, or even send it anonymously. You have asked if gifting would become a reality—so welcome to the future. It's good to see you.

How?

  1. Select "Gift" on the recipient's blog header.
  2. Choose a subscription for one month or one year.
  3. Enter your card details and hit "Pay now."
  4. The lucky user receives their gift. Success!
  5. Ad-free preferences can be adjusted in settings or after receiving a gift.

Who's eligible to receive Ad-Free?

Gifting is only available to users who do not already have Ad-Free, and users who already have an existing web-based subscription. Users with an existing subscription through Apple or Google in-app purchases cannot receive Ad-Free Browsing as a gift due to technical limitations on those platforms.

Please also note that while the recipient's dash will be ad-free across all platforms once it is received, purchasing and viewing your gifts is only available on web. Gifting web-based Ad-Free Browsing will become possible on Android and iOS soon. You can find out more about Ad-Free in this Help Center article.

Any questions? Then please drop us a line on @wip or Support , and keep an eye out for more updates on @changes.
